If you are interested in Rep coverage, but you're not quite sure, it might make sense to engage in a trial period. Perhaps 90 days is enough time to experience one another's abilities and test the chemistry of the relationship. Upon completion of this 'get acquainted' phase, a more educated decision can be made.

If you're sure you'd like to move forward, typically a contract agreement is in order. Many principles supply their own rep agreements. I am open to your contract or I can supply a boiler-plate contract. In my mind, a manís word is everything, and a handshake is enough. But, people come and go and I find that a contract simply serves to avoid any misunderstandings.
